Funerary cones were inserted above the entrance of tomb chapels. The exact function of the cones is unclear, though they were inscribed with a brief message, usually the name and professional title of the tomb owner. The inscription on this cone translates: “Revered before Osiris, the (?) of Amun, the Scribe, Nakht; his sister, the singer of Amun, Tawy.”
