Cineray Urn

This lekythos depicts a youth and a woman flanking a funerary stele while performing funerary rights in remembrance of the deceased. Their somber expressions reveal a sense of loss. The lekythos’ decoration is related to the function of the pot, which was used to store oil that anointed the body of the dead during funeral ceremonies.
